The hotel I chose in Tokyo is located in Ginza, a neighborhood known as the city’s center. I couldn’t see the connection between myself and this area, that is until I realized it was the heart of on open air museum of modern architecture. Apparently, every self respecting fashion designer hires a known ‘starchitect’ to design a building for him (and sometimes even two – in Ginza, and in Roppongi). In the photographs you can witness the works of Toyo Ito (Tod’s), Mikimoto 2, Herzog & de Meuron (Prada), mvrdv (gyre centre), Renzo Piano (Hermes), Kimono Inoi, Saana, Oma, Shigeru Ban, Zhaha Hadid and many others. You can find more on my experiences in these shops in ‘Japan – Part 5’.
